Client

Neil Ellis Private Cellar: West Coast

Scope

Packaging design, brand story

Project Rationale

The design was inspired by this iconic winemaker’s life-long love for the West Coast. The label shows the mystery of the landscape in patterns ever changing like the seasons. The elements are an important part of life on the West Coast, therefore twelve different front labels were designed to illustrate nature’s narrative for each month of the year. The sand-textured paper design element ties into the sensual imagery of the brand story and reinforces a theme of understated sophistication.

The Brand

Pioneering winemaker Neil Ellis discovered an irresistible authenticity when he started making wine from the West Coast over 30 years ago. Like the rugged, unspoilt landscape and people who call it home, the wines from this region tend to be stripped of all pretence. The Cornavalla Farm is located in Groenekloof, Darling and produced the first premium Sauvignon Blanc from the West Coast, a wine that has since amassed a cult following and multiple awards.
